PROmotion and coordination of environmental research in Central and Eastern Europe for a sustainable Development

PROCEED project, started in January 2011, it is funded by Seventh Framework Programme and has the main objective to improve the existing comunication at European level regarding the scientific activity developed for environmental protection, and To select and collect best available environmental research practices/ results in Central and Eastern European countries. In the project are involved 15 partners from 12 European countries, INCDPM is the leader of Work Package 1 Survey of research practices/results (January-November 2011) in the environmental protection field (air pollution, chemical pollution and environmental technologies). |

Preliminary assessment of the accidental pollution risk of tailing ponds from the nonferrous metal extractive industry

The present paper is a part of the National Project PN 09 06 02 38: Development of the evaluation procedures and control of the risk to the accidental pollution of the surface waters in Romania. The above mentioned Project was based on three phases:
Development of three procedures with specific methodologies for implementation concerning the assessment and control of the risk to the accidental pollution caused by: (i) industrial instalation in function (ARS’s), (ii) contaminated sites as a consequence of non runing industrial activities (OCS’s) situated under the incidence of floods and (iii) tailing ponds from the non-ferous extractive industry.
